The DARE – Digital Autonomy with RISC-V in Europe (DARE SGA1) project proudly participated in the ISC High Performance 2025 conference, held from June 10–13 in Hamburg, Germany, marking the event’s 40th anniversary. As one of the leading forums for high-performance computing (HPC), AI, data analytics, and quantum computing, ISC 2025 brought together over 3,500 experts and nearly 200 technology providers in a vibrant showcase of cutting-edge innovation.

Showcasing European Digital Autonomy
DARE co-exhibited at a joint booth alongside the European Processor Initiative (EPI), EUPEX, and EUPILOT, emphasizing the collaborative European vision for sovereignty in advanced computing. The booth was most vibrant during the insightful EPAC demo presented by Filippo Mantovani, Fabio Banchelli Gracia, and Kilian Peira Conde from the Barcelona Supercomputing Center, supporting the EPI SGA2 project.

Birds-of-a-Feather Session
On Tuesday, June 10, from 14:15 to 15:15, DARE joined the BoF session:
“Shaping Europe’s Digital Autonomy: Collaborative Insights with EPI, EUPEX, EUPILOT, and DARE”
Speakers: Alexandra Kourfali, Etienne Walter, Jean-Robert Bacou, Osman Unsal, Carlos Puchol
Moderator: Romana Konjevod
The session attracted a very engaged audience. DARE’s Principal Investigator, Osman Unsal, highlighted the project’s technical focus and collaborative value within the European ecosystem. The panel discussed challenges, milestones, and the vision for open and sovereign technologies, sparking thoughtful exchanges around confidentiality vs. openness, and the policy context driving these strategic initiatives.

EuroHPC JU Booth Project Presentation
On Wednesday, June 11, DARE’s PI Osman Unsal presented DARE at the EuroHPC Joint Undertaking (JU) booth, alongside the talks of EPI SGA2, EUPEX, and EUPILOT. As DARE is still in its early stages—launched just three months ago—the presentation focused on outlining the project’s objectives, presenting its partner institutions, and explaining how DARE complements and builds upon the work of EPI, EUPEX, and EUPILOT. It was emphasized how DARE will contribute to Europe’s digital sovereignty by developing RISC-V-based, open-standard computing solutions aligned with the broader European HPC strategy.
