The DARE project participated in ISC High Performance 2026, one of the world’s leading conferences and exhibitions dedicated to high-performance computing (HPC), artificial intelligence and quantum technologies. Held in Hamburg, Germany, the event brought together scientists, engineers, technology developers and industry leaders to explore the latest innovations shaping the future of computing, with a strong emphasis on sustainability and energy-efficient next-generation systems.
Throughout the conference, DARE showcased its latest developments in RISC-V technologies for European HPC and engaged with the international research community through exhibitions, technical presentations, networking events and collaborative activities with partner projects.
Engaging the HPC Community
During the exhibition, DARE shared Booth G52 with the EUPILOT and EUPEX projects, presenting a united European vision for advancing digital autonomy through open processor technologies and high-performance computing.

The joint booth provided visitors with an opportunity to learn about the complementary objectives of the three projects and to discuss how European initiatives are driving innovation in RISC-V processors, system software and HPC architectures. Throughout the week, project representatives met with researchers, industry stakeholders and policymakers, fostering new connections and exchanging ideas on the future of European computing.
Showcasing DARE at the EuroHPC JU Booth
As part of the conference programme, DARE contributed to activities organised by the European High Performance Computing Joint Undertaking (EuroHPC JU).
On 24 June, Osman Ünsal, Principal Investigator of DARE at the Barcelona Supercomputing Center (BSC), delivered a project presentation at the EuroHPC JU booth. The session introduced DARE’s vision for developing next-generation European HPC and AI technologies through hardware-software co-design, highlighting the project’s work on advanced RISC-V architectures and the software ecosystem needed to support future supercomputing systems.

Later that afternoon, DARE also presented its latest achievements during the conference’s Project Poster Reception, where attendees had the opportunity to discuss the project’s technical progress and future research directions with consortium members.
Reflecting on the Progress of the European RISC-V Ecosystem
DARE also took part in the Birds-of-a-Feather session, “HPC Next – Reflections and Progress on the RISC-V Ecosystem,” held in Hall G1.
The session featured Manolis Marazakis (ICS-FORTH) and Teresa Cervero García (Barcelona Supercomputing Center), who highlighted several major European initiatives advancing RISC-V technologies, including DARE, EUPILOT, EUPEX, the RISER Project and the European Processor Initiative (EPI). The discussion explored the progress made across the European RISC-V ecosystem and the importance of continued collaboration to accelerate the adoption of open processor technologies for HPC.

Technical Contributions to the RISC-V for HPC Workshop
DARE partners also contributed to the International Workshop on RISC-V for HPC at ISC, where researchers shared the latest advances in evaluating and optimising RISC-V technologies for scientific computing.
The workshop included presentations on:
- Great Expectations: Benchmarking the Real-World Performance of RVV 1.0 in HPC, presented by Prateek Chawla (Jülich Supercomputing Centre)
- Performance Evaluation of Fast Fourier Transforms on Emerging RISC-V Hardware with Vector Extension Support, presented by Daniel Seibel (Jülich Supercomputing Centre)
Together, these contributions demonstrated the rapid progress of the European RISC-V ecosystem and the growing maturity of hardware and software technologies for HPC applications.
Building Momentum for Europe’s Digital Future
ISC High Performance 2026 provided an important platform for DARE to showcase its research, strengthen collaborations and engage with the international HPC community. From the shared exhibition booth and EuroHPC activities to technical presentations and discussions on the future of RISC-V, the project highlighted its contribution to building an open, innovative and competitive European computing ecosystem.
By bringing together researchers, partner projects and key stakeholders, the event reinforced DARE’s commitment to advancing RISC-V technologies that will power the next generation of European high-performance computing and artificial intelligence systems.
