SUMMARY:MICRO 2026 is coming to Athens
DESCRIPTION:MICRO 2026 returns to Europe after more than a decade\, bringing together the international computer architecture community in Athens\, Greece\, from 31 October to 4 November 2026. The programme includes Euro-RV\, a workshop co-organised by DARE partners Barcelona Supercomputing Center (BSC) and imec\, focusing on hardware-software co-design for future RISC-V architectures. \n \nThe 59th IEEE/ACM International Symposium on Microarchitecture (MICRO 2026) will take place in Athens\, Greece\, from 31 October to 4 November 2026. One of the leading international events in computer architecture\, MICRO brings together researchers and industry professionals to exchange ideas and present advances in microarchitecture and computing systems. \nThis year’s edition marks several milestones. MICRO returns to Europe after more than ten years and will be held physically in Athens for the first time. The 2026 edition is also set to be the largest in the symposium’s history\, with record numbers of submissions\, accepted papers\, workshops and tutorials\, as well as international attendees. Another highlight is the introduction of MICRO’s inaugural Industry Track\, strengthening the connection between academic research and industrial innovation. \nThe General Chair of MICRO 2026 is DARE’s Dimitris Gizopoulos from the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. The organising team behind this great effort comes from his Computer Architecture Laboratory research group. \nEuro-RV Workshop: Advancing future RISC-V architectures \nA key event within the MICRO 2026 programme is Euro-RV — European Workshop on Hardware-Software Co-Design for Future RISC-V Architectures\, taking place on 31 October 2026\, from 08:00 to 12:00 EEST\, in Athens. \nThis half-day workshop will explore research directions for next-generation RISC-V computing systems\, emphasising hardware-software co-design for artificial intelligence (AI)\, high-performance computing (HPC) and emerging workloads. \nEuro-RV is organised by the Barcelona Supercomputing Center (BSC) and imec\, both technical partners in the DARE project. \nBy bringing together researchers and experts working on RISC-V and hardware-software co-design\, Euro-RV aims to encourage technical exchange and foster collaboration on the development of future computing systems. The workshop aligns with DARE’s broader ambition to advance Europe’s digital autonomy through open\, energy-efficient and high-performance computing technologies based on the RISC-V architecture. \nMemory system profiling and performance analysis Workshop \nJoin BSC\, Intel and INESC-ID at MICRO 2026 for a half-day deep dive into memory system profiling and performance analysis. The workshop will include lectures on Roofline models TopDown analysis. Interested in a preview? Check out DARE’s YouTube playlist on “It’s the Memory\, Stupid!” workshop held earlier this year. \nJoin the MICRO 2026 community \nMICRO 2026 offers an opportunity to engage with the latest developments in computer architecture\, explore emerging research and connect with the international research and industry communities. \nDiscover the full symposium programme and registration information on the official MICRO 2026 website\, and learn more about the Euro-RV workshop.
